Socially & Environmentally Responsible Holly Pagnacco
"Tread lightly upon the earth."
Holly believes in sustainable, socially and environmentally responsible business practises. Her home office contains recyclable & reused materials and low power equipment. She uses public, pedal and ped-powered transportation. She purchases carbon offsets to neutralize her carbon footprint. Every little bit helps. We are all responsible for the choices we make.
Here is how you can help:
- Calculate your carbon footprint & purchase offsets
- Switch your energy distributor
- Register for Peak Saver
- Get a water meter installed
- Get an energy audit and take advantage of Gov't grants.
- Bike. Walk. Take public transit. Share a car.
- Recycle (computers, batteries, ink toners and cellphones)
- Go to Farmers Markets to meet farmers and buy their locally-produced food (they may not be certified organic, but most farmers use the same practises)
- Think about the life cycle of the things you buy. Where were they made? How long will they last? Where do they go afterwards?
- Use reusable shopping bags and containers (ceramic, stainless steel and glass)
- Give an hour of your salary to a charity
- Get involved in a local grassroots organization
- Meet the people in your neighbourhood
- Become a vegetarian
- Freecycle.
- Support your local grocery. Don't shop at "big box" stores.
- Have a car free day in your neighbourhood.
